CWB Chicago reports:

It’s strange that Manaa-Hoppenworth would take this moment to stop telling grown adults about the neighborhood’s rising violent crime problem. According to Chicago police, four men were shot in their department in three separate incidents between May 22 and 27.

According to CPD records, the first two shootings occurred at the exact same address. Manaa-Hoppenworth tried to explain away the first shooting by saying it was “isolated.” That came back to bite her when the second shooting literally happened in the same location. We ribbed her about that. Anyone want to bet that our push was a major factor in her decision to keep quiet about the crime?

Shootings in the 48th Precinct are at their highest level since 2015. the city’s data portal. As of May 13, 41 robberies had been reported in the Manaa-Hoppenworth area this year. That’s an increase of 78% compared to the same period last year, and it’s the highest number of robberies this year since 2012.

Criminal sexual assaults have also been occurring at the highest levels in her neighborhood since at least 2012. Fourteen reports have been made so far this year, compared to six last year.
