Donald Trump on Monday again denied allegations of rape and defamation made against him by writer E. Jean Carroll, drawing the attention of her lawyer.

In a post on Truth Socialthe former president kicked off with “Happy Memorial Day to All,” quickly derailing into a tirade against Judge Lewis Kaplan and Carroll of Manhattan federal court allege: “TWO separate lawsuits have awarded a woman, whom I have never met before (a quick handshake at a celebrity event 25 years ago doesn’t count!), 91 MILLION DOLLARS for “CHARGER.”

Kaplan presided over the case last year in which a jury found Trump liable for sexually assaulting Carroll in a Manhattan department store in the 1990s. Kaplan later ruled in January in the civil defamation case that Trump as President had defamed Carroll after she accused him of rape in 2019. Carroll was awarded $83.3 million in damages, which Trump is appealing.

Carroll’s attorney Roberta Kaplan quickly responded to Trump’s post: “We have said several times since the jury’s final verdict in January that all options were on the table. And that remains true today: all options are on the table.”

Kaplan said in a statement after the interview aired: “The statute of limitations for defamation in most jurisdictions is between one and three years.” He then continued: “As we said after the jury’s final verdict, we continue to monitor any statement made by Donald Trump about our client, E. Jean Carroll.”

Trump’s campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Kaplan’s response.
