Gullane Preps Ayrton Senna related documentation, animation, new films, series

RIO DE JANEIRO – Brazilian top production company Gullane Entretenimento will make a feature-length documentary and the third season of an animated series about Brazilian Formula 1 driver Ayrton Senna, company directors Fabiano and Caio Gullane said Variety.

The highly anticipated ‘Senna’, a biodrama TV series produced by Gullane for Netflix, helmed by Vicente Amorim and Julia Rezende, will be released at the end of this year. Designed for a global audience, ‘Senna’ is Brazil’s highest-budget series ever.

Doc ‚ÄúSenna Kart ‚Äď A Pura Competi√ß√£o‚ÄĚ (‚ÄúSenna Kart ‚Äď Pure Competition‚ÄĚ) shows the beginning of Senna’s career, when he competed in the South American and World Kart Championships. Gullane and Canal Azul will produce the documentary, which will be directed by Pedro Rodrigues and shot in the second half of this year. It will get a theatrical release.

Gullane and Gloob, a pay-TV channel owned by Globo, are making ‘Senninha na pista maluca’, the third season of a children’s animated series that will air on both Gloob and Netflix. The new season, which will consist of 13 episodes of 11 minutes each, should be released in the second half of 2025. In the plot, Senninha (young Senna) loves racing cars.

Another Gullane animation in production is ‘Noah’s Ark’. Sergio Machado and Alois Di Leo are directing the animation that Imagem will be released in cinemas in Brazil in October.

‚ÄúNoah’s Ark‚ÄĚ features Vinicius de Moraes’ children’s songs from his iconic 1980 album of the same title, with new versions by Brazilian singers. The characters are dubbed by Rodrigo Santoro, Alice Braga and other top local actors.

Gullane will also produce the fifth and final season of the KondZilla-created ‚ÄúSintonia,‚ÄĚ the most-watched Brazilian series on Netflix. Lens recording of the season led by Johnny Araujo, concluded in the first half of this year.

The fifth season is set in a poor neighborhood in Sao Paulo and focuses on funk, drug trafficking and fundamentalist religion. The fifth season concludes the stories of Doni (Jottape), Nando (Christian Malheiros) and Rita (Bruna Mascarenhas).

The TV series ‘Colonia’, based on the book ‘Holocausto Brasileiro’ by Daniela Arbex (‘Brazilian Holocaust’), is getting a second season. Gullane will film the season in Sao Paulo in the second half of this year. Veterinarian Andre Ristum will direct the series, starring Fernanda Marques, Andreia Horta and Augusto Madeira.

Gullane has also produced ‘Ninguem Sai Vivo Daqui’ (‘Nobody Leaves Here Alive’), a spin-off feature film from the first season ‘Colonia’ that will be released theatrically in Brazil on July 11. The series and the photo show the inhumane living conditions in the psychiatric hospital of Colonia, in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais.

Fabiano Gullane also told it Variety that Gullane is developing two music documentary TV series about Brazilian rock group Titas and Bahia state singer Daniela Mercury. Vitor Mafra will direct both series, each consisting of six half-hour episodes.
