‘Materialists:’ Zoë Winters, Dasha Nekrasova, Marin Ireland join the cast

Celine Song’s “Materialists” has completed its cast with Zoë Winters (“Succession”), Dasha Nekrasova (“Bad Behavior,” “Wobble Palace”), Louisa Jacobson (“The Gilded Age”) and Marin Ireland (“Eileen”) .

The A24 film starring Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal is described as a rom-com set in New York and follows a high-end matchmaker who becomes involved with a wealthy man. Further details about the plot and the roles of Johnson, Evans and Pascal have not been revealed.

Winters is best known for her role as Logan Roy’s calculating and confident assistant (and lover) Kerry in the HBO Emmy winner “Succession.” She and the cast received a SAG Award for Best Drama Ensemble in 2022 and 2024.

Winters’ other film and television credits include “Flatbush Misdemeanors,” “Hunters” and Marc Turtletaub’s upcoming feature film “Jules,” in which she stars opposite Ben Kingsley. Winters, a longtime stage actor from New York, appeared in “Heroes of the Fourth Turning” at Playwrights Horizons, for which she received an Obie Award and a Lucille Lortel nomination.

Nekrasova, who previously appeared opposite Winters in “Succession,” recently starred with Jennifer Connelly in Bertrand Bonello’s sci-fi drama “The Beast” and in “Bad Behavior.” She is also known for co-hosting the popular cultural commentary podcast “Red Scare.”

Yale-educated actor Jacobson currently stars as Marian Brook in HBO’s “The Gilded Age.” She was nominated with the cast for a 2023 SAG Award for Outstanding Ensemble in a Drama Series.

Tony and Independent Spirit Award nominee Ireland is known for her television roles in ‘Sneaky Pete’, ‘The Umbrella Academy’ and ‘Justified: City Primeval’. In film, she recently starred alongside Anne Hathaway and Thomasin McKenzie in ‘Eileen’ and in Rob Savage’s ‘The Boogeyman’. She will next appear in the Apple TV+ limited series “Sinking Spring” with Brian Tyree Henry.

Song will write, direct and produce alongside Christine Vachon, Pamela Koffler for Killer Films and 2AM’s David Hinojosa. Song made her directorial debut with “Past Lives,” which premiered at Sundance in 2023 and earned two Academy Award nominations, five Golden Globe nominations and three BAFTA Film Awards nominations.

A24 will handle the release of the film, which is currently in production in New York.
