Vince Vaughn and Adrien Brody to direct thriller ‘The Bookie & The Bruiser’

Writer-director S. Craig Zahler (“Bone Tomahawk”) will reunite with his “Dragged Across Concrete” and “Brawl in Cell Block 99” star Vince Vaughn and Oscar winner Adrien Brody (“The Pianist”) for the upcoming crime thriller “The Bookmaker and the Bruiser.”

Anton will introduce the film to international distributors during the upcoming Marche du Film in Cannes. UTA Independent Film Group and Range Media Partners arranged financing and represent North American distribution rights.

Set in 1959 New York, ‘The Bookie & the Bruiser’ follows a pensive Jewish guy named Rivner and an oversized Italian-American tough guy named Boscolo from the Lower East Side, both of whom were sent to prison during World War II. served abroad and returned changed men who no longer fit into the lives they left behind. Anthony Katagas – Oscar winner for ’12 Years a Slave’ and one of the most prolific producers of American indie films, having worked on titles such as ‘Lost City of Z’, ‘Ad Astra’, ‘Uncut Gems’ and ‘Armageddon Time’ – will produce through his Keep Your Head Productions alongside Dave Caplan.
