Women flyers on IndiGo can now select seats next to other women if they wish, BA

Women passengers on IndiGo can now see which all seats are pre-booked by women at the time of online check-in and select their seats accordingly if they wish. This feature, the airline says, was introduced following market research to “make the travel experience more comfortable for our female passengers.”

“The feature provides visibility of seats booked by female passengers only during online check-in. It is specifically tailored to PNRs with female travelers – both solo and as part of family bookings… (this is) currently in pilot mode, in line with our ‘girl power’ ethos,” the airline said in a statement.

At the time of seat selection, the feature will show seats pre-booked by female travelers. The reason behind this move is to allow female travelers, especially those traveling alone, to pre-book a seat next to a seat occupied by another woman for safety reasons, if they wish.
