To see David Archuleta‘s mother watching the music video for his new song – one he couldn’t have written without her – may be more emotional than the song itself.
TMZ has this exclusive clip…of the former ‘American Idol’ runner-up sitting with his mother, Lupe Bartholomewfor her first viewing of the video for “Hell Together”, as he tells her that she is the inspiration behind the song.
Lupe visibly reacts to the footage: it features a lot of home video footage that she helped select, scenes of David singing in a church while angelic-looking women dance.
When David comes across the text about not wanting to live without someone else forever, Lupe starts to tear up… partly because he took the sentiment from the texts she sent him (more on that later).
At the end, Lupe claps for her son and pulls him into a hug, calling the video beautiful before DA launches into an explanation of the song. Watch the clip… it’s much better coming from David, but his point is that his mother deeply influenced the work.
Archuleta Stans undoubtedly knows part of the story, which he recently told People when he came across as strange in 2021, he didn’t hear from his mother for several days and assumed they probably wouldn’t talk again because of her commitment to Mormonism.
Instead, Lupe messaged him and said that she too was leaving the Mormon church… adding that if David was destined for hell, she and the rest of the family would go with him.
It seems like the family is closer than ever, and the music video is certainly moving for the woman who influenced it.
